Solar water heating Gas-fired boilers

Greg’s home in Redhill was equipped with an old standard-efficiency cast iron boiler. “It’s a fair sized Edwardian house which takes a lot of heating. I also have three young children who are always in the bath so we were very aware of our heating and hot water costs,” he says.

Greg chose to replace his existing boiler with Worcester Greenstar 30CDi condensing boiler. In addition, he upgraded his hot water system to include a Greenskies 240 litre unvented cylinder and installed two Greenskies FKT solar panels on the roof.

“We felt we had it was the right time to both upgrade our heating system and do our bit for the environment,” he says. “We now get most of our hot water from the solar panels in the spring and summer months, roughly April through to September. 60% to 70% annually is our expectation.”

. “As soon as the sun comes out you hear the solar pump. It’s a nice feeling to know you are getting your hot water for free”.
