Solar water heating Oil-fired boilers

Having recently moved into a new timber frame house with a high insulation value, I thought it would be a good opportunity to reduce my fuel bills (and my carbon footprint) by using the sun’s energy. I decided to install Worcester Bosch solar panels and a 250 litre Greenstore hot water cylinder. I also replaced the Grant 26kW combination boiler in the house with a Worcester Bosch 12/18 utility system boiler.

The Worcester Bosch installation instructions were very clear and precise so the fitting was carried out with minimal disruption.

As I have my own business and showroom, I intend to use these products as a marketing tool to convince potential customers of the benefits of the Worcester Bosch solar panel system.

Customers will be able to see, via the controller the temperature reached on the panels even on a cloudy day. By 10.00am the flow temperature from the solar panel reaches 30 degrees and on a clear morning has reached 50 degrees with only a sixth of the roof area taken up.

My Worcester boiler hasn’t been required to heat any of the household hot water since the middle of April. Believe me, there’s nothing like having a bath or a shower knowing your hot water is provided by the free energy of the sun.
