Solar water heating Oil-fired boilers

In building my new home I did my installation in stages and getting the heating up and running first. We didn’t have the budget to consider ground source but I was aware with rising fuel costs that I had to go with the most efficient boiler possible.

Although there was a substantial difference in the price of the Worcester to a local manufacturer, there was no comparison on quality so I opted for a Greenstar Utility boiler and I find this very efficient and a lot easier on the oil than the boiler I had in my previous home.

My next project was to tackle the hot water side – with a family of 4, ranging from 20 down to 4 (2 teenage daughters constantly changing their clothes and showering and a young son who seems to be allergic to keeping clean, I opted for a three panel system to boost and recoup the hot water quicker.

I would recommend solar to anyone, copious amounts of hot water, no need to burn my oil to top up yet, even on the cloudiest of days. Better still, in a climate where the heating side is slow, I’ve picked up a few solar customers from seeing the panels on my roof.

I’m delighted with the Worcester products, they do what they say and I have more money in my pocket!!
