Applying for the Government’s boiler scrappage scheme
The Government’s boiler scrappage scheme offers homeowners a £400 incentive to replace their old ‘Band G’ boiler.

How the homeowner applies for the Boiler scrappage scheme.
Homeowners can apply for their £400 grant now. To qualify they need to:
- obtain a written quote from a Gas Safe/OFTEC/APHC registered installer
- have the G rated boiler replaced with an A rated one and ensure the installer signs the declaration on the voucher application form to confirm this has been done
- complete the voucher application form and send to the EST with the quotation and a copy of the installer’s invoice
How long do the Boiler scrappage scheme vouchers last?
Vouchers are valid for 12 weeks from the date of issue. If the voucher is not redeemed within this time, it will be cancelled and reallocated.
Which heating appliances can be used to replace a G rated boiler?
Vouchers can be redeemed against any A rated gas, oil or LPG boiler, Microgeneration Certification Scheme-registered biomass boilers and heat pumps. Solar thermal systems are also included if combined with an eligible boiler replacement. Electric boilers will not be eligible.

Boiler scrappage schemes in Scotland and Wales
Boiler scrappage schemes, similar to the one available in England, have been approved for Scotland and Wales. Worcester will also be supporting these schemes with the extra year’s guarantee.
