Worcester duo smash charity fundraising target
Worcester’s 50th anniversary celebrated by smashing fundraising target
Two keen runners from Worcester, Bosch Group, have beaten their target of raising £5,050 for St Richard’s Hospice by running 50 miles this weekend at the gruelling Malvern Ultra.
Worcester’s Managing Director Carl Arntzen and Customer Services Director Shaun Mansbridge took on the 53 mile endurance run on Saturday 5th May 2012, having undertaken a rigorous training regime over the past few months, and managed to complete to run in under 11 hours.
The Worcester duo decided to take on the challenge as part of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year, with the goal of raising £5,050; a total which was beaten before the race began, with money continuing to come in.
All of the funds will be will be donated to St Richard’s Hospice, a local charity that provides free specialist care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in the Worcestershire area.
Carl Arntzen, Managing Director from Worcester, Bosch Group, said:
“The 50th Anniversary is such an important milestone for us at Worcester and we want to involve everyone in the celebrations this year.
“Coupling Worcester’s 50th with the Malvern Ultra 53 mile run gave Shaun and I the opportunity to raise money for worthwhile charities in the local area and we are incredibly proud of our achievement.
“A huge thank you to all our family, friends and work colleagues who came out to support us and help us get to the finishing line.”
