Boilers and sustainable heating
As the UK’s number 1 heating brand, we’re highly committed to the future of sustainable heating, and were confident there is nothing you need to worry about when buying your next boiler.
Contrary to confusion in the media, gas boilers will not be banned from 2025, so you will not need to replace your new boiler any sooner than its natural working life.
When and where will change come first?
From 2025, new build homes will likely embrace renewable heating technologies such as heat pumps to achieve carbon reduction goals.
Heat pumps can be more suitable for new builds due to the higher levels of insulation they require which can be easier to implement when constructing a new home. This is much of the reasoning behind the gas boiler ban being focused on new build developments.
Already Ready
You might not know that our current boilers are already capable of running on hydrogen gas, up to a blend of 20%. This means your boiler will continue to work even when hydrogen, a carbon free fuel source, is slowly introduced into the gas grid. From the 2030s, Worcester Bosch boilers aim to be 100% hydrogen ready.
