Our beloved mascot, Bobby the Boiler, has been supporting us at events for 24 years now. Recently, we gave Bobby a face-lift and re-introduced him with our new mascot, Harley the Heat Pump, at the Installer Show. But how did Bobby the Boiler come to be?

From paper to reality

Bobby materialised from the imagination of a little boy. In 2001, we held an art competition for children in the Worcester Bosch Environment Awards. These young children were asked to draw a character. Jack Lewis, aged 8, entered with his creation of a funky boiler named Ben who would soon evolve into Bobby.

Jack’s drawings wowed everyone to the point where his designs were the face of the Christmas card that year. However, we needed a more fitting name for this boisterous boiler. After much deliberation, Ben became Bobby as we know him today.

Bobby takes on a children’s book

From Christmas card to a book deal, Bobby’s next adventure was a bigger one which would cement him as a mascot. Published in 2006, with over 400,000 copies distributed to date, Bobby the Boiler was a central character in the children’s book ‘Picture A Greener Future’. The story follows Bobby feeling sad when the solar heating system, Solar Sam, enters and steals his limelight.

Bobby the mascot is born

Since then, Bobby the Boiler was made into a mascot adored by the Worcester Bosch and installer community. From Glastonbury to Worcester Carnival, to being in a play, Bobby has done a lot in his 24 years. Nicola Fisher, PR Manager at Worcester Bosch, said; “We are delighted to launch our next-gen Bobby and his new heat pump buddy Harley to the installer community. It also felt fitting to give Bobby a well overdue makeover at the same time to better reflect the sleek designs of the boilers we sell today.”

Keep up to date on our socials to see what Bobby and Harley get up to!
