Meet Liza from Priory Heating
Name: Liza van Zyl
Company: Priory Heating
Location: Swindon
Recently, we travelled to Swindon to speak with Liza who did a feature with us for International Women’s Day. When chatting with us, she answered some additional questions about being a gas engineer and her experience with us as a brand. We want to spotlight Liza for her hard work in the industry and her ongoing advocacy for female gas engineers.
Take a look at what she had to say:
How long have you been working in the heating industry?
15 years. I originally started back in 2010 when I left the British Army and then I started a new career in plumbing and heating.
What interested you in becoming a gas engineer?
I’ve always been a hard worker. Back when I had to change my career it came down to a simple choice. I was either going to go back into landscape gardening, which I did before I joined the British Army, or I thought it’s the middle of winter, if the boiler breaks or somebody wants to repave the patio, maybe I’ll become a heating engineer.
Do you have a favourite Worcester Bosch product?
Personally, I prefer the Greenstar CDi Compact. It can be range-rated and therefore adaptable to almost any property size.
What kind of experience have you had with Worcester Bosch?
The Worcester Bosch training academy is just up the road from us, so annually we go up there for training to get up to date with all the latest products. The Worcester Bosch rep is just a phone call away and the mobile training vans are also available which we have used plenty of times in the past.
What kind of products do you install?
Currently, the majority is boilers and hot water cylinders. We have dipped our toe into renewables and from spring onwards we will also start installing air conditioning.
What is your favourite thing about working in this industry?
Being able to advise customers on the best possible heating options for their property, and then a year down the line they thank you because they have seen the results that it has achieved.
