How to close your business for the holidays
It’s that time of year; business is starting to slow down, people are off on holidays, and it’s time to close shop. Here’s a checklist of things to-do to ensure a smooth transition from the end of the year to the start of the next!
Top 10 things to-do before the holidays:
-
Let your customers know of closures.
-
Send/pay any outstanding invoices before the holidays start.
-
Set up an out-of-office email from the business and staff and an out-of-office voicemail.
-
Reschedule or cancel any upcoming and outgoing deliveries and services to make sure nothing arrives while the business is shut.
-
Focus on finishing ongoing projects and not starting new ones.
-
Consider a ‘last call’ for service to post on your social channels.
-
Place orders for essential suppliers that have longer lead times, ready for when you return.
-
Inspect and clean your tools (sharpen blades, lubricate moving parts, charge batteries).
-
Last minute inventory check of essential tools and materials. Note anything that needs replacing or re-ordering to save any stress in the new year.
-
Vehicle prep by cleaning and reordering the van so it’s fresh and organised for when you come back in the new year!
