Working towards a more sustainable future

Published: 09-02-2023

At Worcester Bosch, we are always looking for ways to become a more sustainable business. We recently held sustainability events at three of our sites and encouraged colleagues to share their ideas and come together to create a greener future.

With a huge focus on decarbonisation in the heating industry, we are innovating for the future of home heating and believe it is crucial to operate as a sustainable business which we encompass at every level of the company. On this journey to a greener future, we want to get everyone involved, including our internal teams.

We give this topic such importance that we have created a team dedicated to sustainability who look to support and advise at all levels. This year we held our first sustainability day which was an opportunity to understand how our employees think their departments can work towards becoming more sustainable, what ideas they would like to see implemented and how we can work together to help create change and make a positive impact.

We held several drop-in sessions across our Worcester HQ, distribution site and Clay Cross production facility in Derbyshire. All our employees were given the opportunity to contribute and share their innovative ideas. The event was a great success with over 25 new ideas being shared on how to help improve our sustainability at Worcester Bosch.

One recommendation mentioned by an employee, focused on suggesting everyone working in the office sits within the same area to help reduce our energy usage, rather than being spread across several different offices. Another employee recommended reducing packaging throughout the production process and making sure all our packaging is biodegradable or recyclable for consumers. We have already implemented this for our Greenstar 4000 boilers which has been a huge success so far. Each and every proposal brought forward will be considered and some of the most innovative ideas will be implemented.

We are continually making progress to make our offices more sustainable as we already have numerous planned and ongoing projects including solar power installation, adjusting our waste recycling plan, trialling electric and biogas, and much more!
