Heat pumps are an efficient solution for keeping your home comfortable all year round. Like any appliance, they work better and last longer if you look after them properly.
Why should I have my heat pump or hybrid serviced?
Servicing your heat pump or your boiler and heat pump (known as a hybrid system) will help it run smoothly and keep your home warm and comfortable. It also ensures everything’s working correctly and gives you the opportunity to fix small issues before they become bigger.
Having a service every year could also extend its lifespan and save you time and money in the long run, as well as protect your guarantee. If your heat pump is part of a hybrid system with a boiler as well, both will need annual servicing to keep their guarantees valid.
Servicing should be done by a qualified professional. You can contact your original installer, or click the buttons below to use our Find an Installer tool, or book a visit with our Worcester Bosch renewable engineer.

How often should my products be serviced?
Getting your heat pump or hybrid system serviced once a year will help to keep it running efficiently and protect your guarantee. It’s best to get this done during spring or summer, so it’s in good working order when the weather turns colder.
An annual service is also a great investment. It could help your heat pump or hybrid system work better for longer, keeping your home comfortable and your bills down.

What to expect from a heat pump service
Heat pump servicing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Ground source and air source systems need different checks, and what’s done can vary depending on who carries out the service.
Our Worcester Bosch renewable engineers focus only on Bosch and Worcester Bosch products, so you’re in expert hands. We’ll tailor the service to your heat pump type, but it usually includes the following:
- Checking the condition of the heat pump
- Cleaning filters and evaporator fins
- Optimising performance settings
- Looking for signs of leaks
- Checking safety valves
- Provide product and usage advice
If you have a hybrid system that includes both a heat pump and boiler, both appliances will need annual servicing. This will include a range of checks on both appliances to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Additionally, if your hybrid system includes any components from other manufacturers, please be aware that these will need to be serviced according to the guidelines provided by those third-party companies.
What else can I do to keep my heat pump or hybrid system running well?
Maintain a clear space around the outdoor unit
- Avoid placing anything too close to the unit – like plant pots, furniture or garden tools. Keeping space around the unit will make it more efficient, because of the better airflow.
- Trim back any plants growing near the outdoor unit, and remove any debris, leaves or snow that fall onto it.
- Ensure the drains surrounding the outdoor unit are clear of leaves.

Check your water pressure
It's best to check the water pressure a couple of times a year, or more often if you notice performance changes, or after bleeding radiators. To run at its best your heat pumps gauge should read between 1 and 1.5 bars.
In a hybrid system, the water pressure for both the heat pump and boiler should be kept between 1 and 1.5 bars. If the pressure drops below this range, you can easily top up the water by repressurising the system.
